2025.12.04 I have 3 Raspberry Pi machines, v1, v3B, and v3B+ The old one used to be my web server and irc client, but it is being used for nothing at the moment. 3B+ is the machine serving the words you are now reading, as well as running my irc client and web server. Today I decided to do something with the RPi 3 that was once used as a media server. I'm not very familiar with BSD, so I decided to put FreeBSD on that RPi as a learning tool. Installation was super simple, same as with the official RPi OS: Just download the RPI version of FreeBSD, dd it onto a microSD, and pop it in. I have done nothing with it yet, except to update pkg, but after my obsession with gopher ebbs to a sensible level I'll likely be spending some time playing with it. What I'm going to do with that OS is up in the air for now. Maybe I'll just do what I did with Linux at the start, which was to throw everything that looked interesting into it, break a lot of things, and try fixing what I broke. It's snowing again, 23°F/-5°C. I've already had enough of winter.
